[comp.periphs.printers] losing tops of letters on old daisywheel

jkimball@SRC.Honeywell.COM (John Kimball) (11/26/89)

I have a 'Comrex CR-1 ComRiter' daisywheel printer hanging off my CP/M
machine at home. It's five years old, and has behaved itself until the
last few months.

Recently it's taken to not printing the tops of letters, in the first line
after a few lines of white space. IE, in the middle of paragraphs, everything
is fine, but at the top of the page, or after spacing a few lines, the
next line it prints has the tops of letters lacking ink.

The manual is terse to the point of ridiculousness, and says nothing about
routine maintenance. Anyone seen this behavior before? Is there a fix?

Thanks! . . .
