Have you ruled out the possibility of static electricity sticking the
pages together?

Don't laugh - I have seen this with my own eyes. If you try to run many
small lasers in an area that is real DRY, the static build up in the
paper can cause some extremely nasty problems. You didn't say precisely
that it was a Laserwriter I or II; this was more of a problem with the
I's than II's.

In fact, Canon (maker of the print engine) even put out some factory
info on the subject although it was more tailored to nasty splotches
on the page or missing stuff on the page - caused by static.

Quick things to try if you suspect this may be the case: when you load paper
into the tray, fan the paper a bit or hold one end of the stack in one
hand and do a 'quick flip' through with the other. Check the humidity
of your area - if it is real low (like say, 20%ish) get a small humidifer
and try raising it to about 35% or 40%.

Another possibility - the "paper picker" rollers are worn out. Sorry to
say, I don't know of any quick fix for this one. Or cheap. Replacing
the rollers is about it. I think if the rollers were just dirty, the
mechanism simply wouldn't pick even one page.
