I have a Star Gemini 1615 printer that has started to give me problems.
Occasionally on power-up the printer refuses to reset itself(power-leds
come on but printer head doesn't seek to the 1st column and no beep).
When it does power-up it prints fine for about two pages and then the
print head keeps firing but doesn't move across the page. Powering
down for about 20 min. SEEMS to fix the problem until another two pages
is printed!
What bothers me is that when I first bought this printer (about 2 yrs ago) the
first one I brought home exhibited the reset problem after two weeks, so
apparently the 1615 must have an inherent design flaw.
I suspect that the head movement problem is either a driver that is overheating
and shutting down. The reset problem might be a bogus reset circuit design.
Has anyone with this printer had similar problems?
Any good sources for schematics/repair info (Is a SAMS available for this
printer?) ?
