I am considering the purchase of the new LaserJet Series III, and would like to hear opinions from people who have already purchased and/or evaluated this printer. Specifically, I am wondering: 1. Does the "Resolution Enhancement Technology" really make a difference? Can you tell the difference between graphics printed with Series II, and those printed with Series III? 2. How fast does Adobe's Postscript interpreter run. I'm guessing it would run approximately half as fast on CPU intensive tasks (scaling, rotations, font construction) as an Apple LaserWriter NTX based on CPU speeds. Is my estimate valid, or have I oversimplified things? Has anyone benchmarked it? ... for a full page of text? for graphics? Given sufficient memory (how much is necessary?), is the Postscript interpreter able to overlap printing of page N with formatting of page (N+1)? 3. Are there any major shortcomings or design flaws that I should be aware of? I will summarize the information I receive and mail it to those of you you express an interest, or will post to the news groups if sufficient interest is indicated.
