As part of a follow-up study on the recent "Excellence in Education" report issued earlier this year, I am inviting every- one on the net to give their opinions on how microcomputers can (cannot?) help improve our educational situation. I am looking for responses from educators, computer owners, and interested bystanders concerning any level of education (elementary, secondary, college, etc.). Feel free to respond to any or all of the three questions below: 1) What is being done now with micros in the classroom? Citing specific examples (if possible), relate any experi ences you have had with micros in a classroom environment. Advantages? Problems? Suggestions to others? 2) What could be done with micros in the classroom within one year? Will 1983 be the year micros come into wide-spread use in schools around the country? If so, which types of micros? How will they be used? In which subjects? 3) Ultimately, what role will micros play in education? Down the road, will there be a micro on every desk? How could micros help/harm our educational process if they become widely used? What is your best case/worst case senario of the future? Feel free to elaborate on any of the questions above and to raise any other issues not listed here. So much has been written in educational journals about the promise of the microcomputer, now I'd like to hear what some of the people who have used them have to say. Thanks in advance, ...!tucc!uchip
