Greetings! I've had M1509 for years, but recently this feature has annoyed me a lot. The problem is that in NLQ the head makes the first pass, moves about 3/432 th of an inch down and makes another pass. I think most printers do their NLQ printing this way. If there are mixed printing modes on the line, like bolds or superscripts, each of them are made with their own passes. Following picture gives an exaggerated idea of the problem: normal BOLD back in normal ANOTHER BOLD more normal text If the head would go slightly up just before switching to a new mode, there would be no problem at all. I wonder if anybody else have expereinced problems with this and what kind of cures he has found if any. The distance between pins in a head is 3/216th of an inch. There is command to move head up n/216th of an inch. Unfortunately there is no command to move head up in 1.5/216th of an inch, as the head moves this amount of down when it does the second pass in NLQ mode. I use mostly Word Perfect and I have customised mine printer driver to do some extra move up here and there in mode switching commands. I've succeeded to reduce the effect, but I've found no way to remove it. Has anybody asked manufacturers word about this ? One more thing: I purchased mine from Finland. There may be several versions of M1509 around. Jarkko Lavinen
