I just received a call from HP concerning a DeskJet I had sent in for an upgrade. The woman calling from HP asked if I use any LaserJet IIP printers, or knew anyone who did (the answer to both is "no"). The reason she asked, is that HP has announced a recall on certain LaserJet IIP printers, due to a problem of some sort with the power supply. Printers affected by this recall have a model number of 33417B, and have serial numbers which fall into the range 2925-2950. Anyone who has one of these printers, or who wishes to get further information about this recall, is asked to call Hewlett-Packard at the toll-free number 800-233-5153. [This number may not work from outside the U.S.; non-U.S. users should probably contact their local HP dealers for information about this recall]

There IS NOT A RECALL on LaserJET IIP's. That is a incorrect statement. There has been a Service Note issued on the _33471A_ printer. (Please note the CORRECT model number.) This service note addresses the fact that the power supply for the printer has been redesigned to correct a possible shock hazard. If you have any questions about your particular printer, please call the LaserJet Hotline or talk with your dealer. This service note was issued to correct any _possible_ problem. --My opinions are my own. HP does pay my salary, but I no longer support LaserJet's....so, my comments do not necessarilly represent those views of my employer.
