[comp.periphs.printers] Genicom 3140 and GhostScript

amoss@SHUM.HUJI.AC.IL (Amos Shapira) (10/20/90)

Hello,
I've just finished compiling GhostScript on a PC compatible and
managed to print the golfer.ps file on a Genicom defined as an
Epson (i.e. I told GhostScript that I want it to be printed on
 an Epson).

There are two problems with it:

 1. The scan lines are not tight (there are gaps). But all of
the picture gets printed (see below why I mention this).

 2. After several attempts (I copyed gdevepsn.c to gdevgeni.c and
defined a new device) I managed to make them tight but it stopped
after 18 scan lines (several times, exectly at the same spot).
I tright to change back to Epson, but it still stops after 18
scan lines (with the gaps, as before). Of course, I turned the
printer off and on between each tryal.

 The question: what's wrong?

Hardware: Olivetti 24. Genicom 3140 with Parrallel interface.
Softwre: GhostScript 2.0 compiled by Turbo C 2.0 to be run on
 8086 with no 80x87 coprocessor.

Please E-mail responses as I don't follow this group.

Thanks in advance,
Amos Shapira
