 Sorry to use the group to respond, in contravention to the original

  HP has a number of manuals, including the operations one (you did get
it with the printer?) and some developer ones which can (at least a while
ago) be obtained for free if you can convince them you are a s/w developer.
I can give you the part numbers and a US phone number. You might also check
local HP offices for the stuff.

  There is at least one book available in the US: Deskjet Unlimited that covers
the regualr dj and the plus. By Steve Cummings. respond if you need more info
(publisher, ISBN, etc.)

  If you're too cheap for any of this :-) Ihave some sheets of the font format
that were sent to me by a friendlyy fellow before I got the HP stuff. Will
need an address and prepaid postage envelope of some kind. Can get the
weight for you to calculate the postage.

P.S.  I also think there is a deskjet directory at simtel you might check
