Sorry to use the group to respond, in contravention to the original questioer's request for email, but our uucp routing sux. In article <7065@suns1.cel.co.uk> you write: >I've recently purchased a second-hand HP DeskJet printer and its wonderful. >I would like to generate my own fonts but haven't got a clue of the HP >format used. It does not appear to be a LaserJet format. Any pointers, >anyone? A full font description specification would be great. Also, >what is the download protocol (hang on, that may be in the book - only >tell me if your really keen). Finally any recommendations for DeskJet >programming references, hints, tips etc. > >-- >o-----------------o-------------------------o--------------o > Imerio Ballarini Crosfield Electronics Ltd ib4@cel.co.uk > My opinions, not Hemel Hempstead, Herts, ib4@cel.uucp > CEL's, got that? HP2 7RH, UK. +44 442 230000 >o-----------------o-------------------------o--------------o HP has a number of manuals, including the operations one (you did get it with the printer?) and some developer ones which can (at least a while ago) be obtained for free if you can convince them you are a s/w developer. I can give you the part numbers and a US phone number. You might also check local HP offices for the stuff. There is at least one book available in the US: Deskjet Unlimited that covers the regualr dj and the plus. By Steve Cummings. respond if you need more info (publisher, ISBN, etc.) If you're too cheap for any of this :-) Ihave some sheets of the font format that were sent to me by a friendlyy fellow before I got the HP stuff. Will need an address and prepaid postage envelope of some kind. Can get the weight for you to calculate the postage. Jeff Sicherman P.S. I also think there is a deskjet directory at simtel you might check into.
