Just a quick note on my recent purchace of the Texas Instruments PS35 Postscript Printer. After opening the box, it took around 15-20 minutes to get my first printout. There are 3 cartridge type thingys to install along with removing various shipping straps. Overall, I'm sure anyone with half a brain (me) could have done it. Using an Amiga 2000, and Professional Page I ran a few quick tests (since it was close to 10:00pm). Basic text printing with 2pt and 60pt type. I used 3 different font families. The 2pt was very readable. I'll try 1pt later. I did notice a problem printing Futura (I forget exactly which one) but where I had a alpha character then a space then a number, the alpha character and number overlapped? I'll have to try this again. Also printed out a graphic. This was originally a HAM Interlace picture which I converted to Gray scale via PIXmate. It looked OK to me, kinda on the dark side, but I did'nt have anything to compare it with. I had also purchaced Gold Disk Type, the Publisher series. So, I used the utility they supply for creating and also downloading Postscript fonts. It worked like a charm. Although it seemed to take a while for downloading. The downloading option on ProPage worked swell also. I guess the utility would be used for ProDraw, since it does'nt have a Font Downloader like ProPage. All in all, for the little time I had to play with it, I am thus far very impressed and pleasantly pleased. For the price of $1925.00 I don't think you can beat it. Oh, and it is true postscript. I have a Texas Instruments microlaser 35. It has around 380 pages on it according to the report. I'm on a new toner cartridge. I'm experienceing light toner on the left 1/2" to 1" side of the sheet. Anyone have an idea on how to cure this. When I replaced the toner cartridge (I had the problem before I replaced it), I followed the instructions on cleaning the corona, and riding the OPC of dust. What else should I do? Help.....
