Does anyone know a way of feeding standard labels through an HP ThinkJet? The tractor feed mechanism doesn't seem to be adjustable down to the 3.5 inch width... Failing that, recommendations for another low-price, reliable printer that *can* do labels would be appreciated. -- tom lane Internet: tgl@cs.cmu.edu BITNET: tgl%cs.cmu.edu@cmuccvma

Companies like Dennison and Avery make sheets of labels designed for laser printers. The adhesive won't melt on the drum. :-) I suggest sheets over rolls. jwhiting

I haven't tried to do labels on a Thinkjet myself, but I see by the catalog that we sell them in a 2-across format on Z-fold backing for the Thinkjet, Quietjet, etc. The part number is 51630L, HP JetLabels, 1 box of 2000 labels, $18.95. The individual labels are 3.5 by 15/16 inch. If you want to call HP directly, to order supplies or get the catalog, you can call 800-538-8787. Hope this information is helpful to you. I would be inclined to buy labels in sheets that are two-across. If you can't configure your software for two-up printing, run half the labels through, then reverse the paper to print the other labels. -- --- Clarence A Dold - dold@tsmiti.Convergent.COM ...pyramid!ctnews!tsmiti!dold

I agree that sheets work great for LaserJets, in fact I use Avery labels in my own LaserJet at home. However, the ThinkJet printer is designed for tractor-feed forms, not individual cut-sheets. Being an ink-jet printer (not Laser), paper quality is a concern for best print quality, but I wouldn't be surprised if Avery or someone like that also makes the labels that HP calls "JetLabels".
