We're considering the purchase of an HP IIID LJ printer with a PostScript option to hang off of a SPARCstation 2. The salesman that we are talking to is recommending the Pacific Data Products, PacificPage XL board, instead of the HP PostScript cartridge. This printer will be used exclusively for PostScript and my concern is that this Pacific Data board does PostScript *emulation*, not official PostScript. I would appreciate any comments or experiences people out there have had with either the HPIIID or with this Pacific Data Products option. One more thing, the other PostScript printer that we were considering is the new NEC 990. Any info on that would also be appreciated. Respond back to me directly by email, unless you think that this will be of general interest to this group. I will summarize the responses. -- David Himes himes@ncar.ucar.edu UCAR-COMET (303) 497 - 8497 Boulder, CO
