I am having a couple problems and I wondered if anyone can help me. I am trying to use an auto data switch to share one or our laserprinters between a sun workstation and a pc. The switch uses the modem controls (DTR,RTS,CTS,DSR) to allow the computers to signal the box that they are going to print something. The switchbox then "locks" in and allows that computer to send info to the printer. Unfortunately, I cannot get the sun to signal the box. Apparently it just tries to send it every once in a while. If the box just happens to be polling that port at the time that the sun tries to send the info, then it will print. But, the odds of this happening are very slim since the sun doesn't try that often. How do I configure the sun to either try more often or use the modem controls to signal the box? Second question, we have one of these box set up to share a printer with four PC's. Whenever you turn one of the computers off, it sends garbage to the printer. Is this a problem with the box (I have tried three and the problempersists with all of them) or is it the computers causing this? I would appreciate any info. Thanks.
