I'm looking for solutions to a couple of annoyances with lpr/lpd. The machine is a Sun-4/280 under SunOS 4.1.1. 1) I have an ``if'' filter that diverts output through UREP to some IBM mainframe printers. It works fine, but if you specify multiple copies to lpr, each copy is handled separately. The number of copies is not made known to the filter. Is there perhaps a replacement that is more intelligent about this, or another way to do it? 2) Lpd sometimes mails error reports to the person who submitted the print job. However, if the job comes from another machine, it mails to user@host, rather than the fully-qualified domain name. If the host is in another domain, the mail fails. Mail to PCs running NCSA Telnet also bounces. Can this be made more intelligent? -- -Gary Mills- -Networking Group- -U of M Computer Services-
