(Note: I posted this to net.micro.atari about 4 weeks ago but received no
response, so I am assuming it has not been seen.)
I have an Atari 800 with 48K, one Percom double density disk drive,
and 2 Atari single density drives. I want to know if anyone out there in
net land has heard of any serious system development software for
the Atari. Specifically, I am looking for:
- a >good< C compiler (not one of the tiny Cs floating around),
- a better DOS (possibly allowing sub-directories and a hierarchy,
though I don't hold out much hope for this),
- a good screen editor. The screen editor that comes with the
Atari Macro Assembler isn't too bad, but...
Also, has anyone heard of a hard disk available for the 800? I
suspect that there is one lying around somewhere, but haven't heard of
it.
Many thanks in advance, and if there is sufficient interest I'll post
a summary of what I hear/read.

Rick: The only hard disk I know of for the Atari is from Corvus, but is meant to be used as a shared disk so is more expensive than a single user system would be. I know Micro Mainframe, and maybe Rana, have both referred to future hard disk expansion for both their Atari drives. ~Kevin
