I've received a few responses regarding this pascal offer. So far only one of these have actually received their order. I called in regards to my order and was told that they were about two weeks behind in filling their orders. I'm currently out of town so I really don't know if my order has been received. I am willing to accumulate all persons opinions of this package and put out a summary. You may send your opinions to ll1!jmr1. John Reese

From: Dick <Mead@Usc-Eclb> When I saw their first ad for a 29.95 Pascal, I called in my order. Seems this was earlier this year. I believe it did take them at least 4 weeks to finally get it to me. Just the other day I received a 'newsletter' from JRT, stating they have an updated version, 2.21 or whatever, for $10, and expect to release a version 3 soon (still 29.95), no upgrade by 2.x owners mentioned. I have not used the JRT, as I have, for now, given up on Pascal, after treading through some of the literature on learning it, but they still seem to be around and filling orders, no matter how slowly it happens. -------

#N:pur-ee:6700005:000:304 pur-ee!wolfordj Nov 15 16:55:00 1982 I don't know if my last message made got through. I have found out some problems with the JRT pascal. 1 so far is that you must have CP/M 2.2 to make it run. A friend has CP/M 1.4 and we could not get it to run until we redid his CP/M and corresponding BIO. Jeff Wolford pur-ee!wolfordj

Well I've received some mail regarding the Pascal offered by JRT for $29.95 and I've also noticed that there have been some news articles in 'net.micro' pertaining to this offer. The general consensus seems to indicate that there is a 4 to 6 week wait for the software and a 1 to 4 week wait for the bill... I have also read and heard from others that it requires version 2.2 CP/M to run properly. Many people mentioned recent articles in some of more popular computing magazines...I've read only one article from I think it was Microcomputing (educated guess..I've read so many). The general opinion of that article was for $29.95 it was a good deal, but for $150 it would be a terrible deal. I just read a net.news article stating that there is an article in the latest version of 'Doc. Dobbs Jour.'...if that person who wrote that could give a brief synopsis I'm sure those of us interested would greatly appreciate it. As of today, I have not yet received my order so I'm still waiting to find out if I've been burned. Although I didn't send the original reference to the Dr. Dobbs article on JRT PASCAL, I'll give the bottom, since I haven't seen it here yet. The author of the review applauded JRT's idea of reducing prices on useful software drastically, and wished that he could recommend the product. The last paragraph had the following flavor: it was really a great idea for JRT to drop the price drastically, but it's still no bargain even at $29.95. I was going to order it, but decided not to on the basis of the review. Jim Gillogly

This is a continuing saga of the JRT Pascal... Well I still have yet to receive my ordered copy of the JRT pascal, although I've paid for it....I called again today and they said they have not sent out copies for the past two weeks because they have a new version 2.2....I wonder what bugs this new version is supposed to correct? At this rate I'll at least always have an up-to date version...but it will be located some where in their office! Anyone have any ideas what the new version contains???? John Reese ll1!jmr

Several people I know or have heard of, myself included, have had major problems receiving our ordered copies of JRT Pascal (mainly in the soft sectored formats). I have been waiting several months and others have been waiting longer (up to 7 months). In all cases, our checks were cashed within a couple of weeks and JRT has been collecting interest on our money since then. To all you other people in the same boat, do not dispair. There is a way to get the product (or a refund, which may be a good idea). JRT Pascal is a real product and I have heard several people claim that it is worth the $30. Two members of a computer user group I belong to tried this and got their JRT Pascal shipped within one week. I am trying it now. To get your Pascal, write the company a cordial letter. In it, say that if you do not receive your Pascal within 10 working days that you will inform the California State Attorney General and the US Postal Service of your predicement. This should work. If it dosen't then write to these two groups. Write to the Better Business Bureau, too. JRT has cancelled all their magazine ads, so writing to magazines may not help. Good luck. Ken Lee
