I am considering using MacApp for my next programming project. I would be interested in hearing the experiences of anyone that has used MacApp enough to have an opinion about it. I have done a lot of reading about MacApp (MacApp Manual, Schmucker's book, MacApp Developer Assoc. Newsletters) and am very intrigued but I am still not quite sure. I know I want to at least use Object Pascal or C++ if it happens soon. In particular, reading the MADA newsletters leads me to believe that some things (like rulers, floating palettes) are difficult or impossible with MacApp. I have programmed the Mac for a couple of years so I know what is involved in programming the machine. I could do my next project with or without MacApp but the project definitely has an object "feel" to it. It is also nice to learn something new every so often. If you have used MacApp for a large project or decided against it for some reason please mail me a message describing your reasons or experiences. I will summarize if enough are interested. Has anyone seen or know the progress of MacApp 2.0? Will it be in the upcoming (2 weeks ) APDA catalog? MacApp 2.0 looks like it will have some nice features that might sway my decision. Thanks. ----------------- Kim Gillies National Optical Astronomy Observatories Tucson, AZ 85733 6023272073 UUCP: ihnp4!noao!gillies INTERNET: gillies@noao!arizona.edu -----------------
