[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Default button highlighting with ResEdit

brownh@unioncs.UUCP (H. Brown) (04/07/88)

I recently posted a question about highlighting default buttons in
ALRT's. The responses all talked about drawing roundRects over the
button. I've also figured out how to do it with ResEdit(v1.0d7) if
anyone is intersested.

What needs to be done is set the id number of the button to 1 (or 2) and turn
on the default selection to highlight it.

1. Open the ALRT.
2. Double click the alert itself and select the desired button.
3. Choose "Send to back" from the "DITL" menu, this sets the button's
id number to 1.
4. Go back to the alert window itself.
5. Choose "Display Graphically" from the "ALRT" menu and check the
"drawn" box for each stage needed. This says, draw the default box highlight.
6. If you want the button with id# = 2 to be the default (say in
another stage) then also check the "2 bold" box.

I still haven't seen any mention of LightspeedC v3.0 recently, is it
really coming out?

I'm begining to think that it is just a myth. I really dislike "RSN"
(real soon now) software. Has anyone heard DIRECTLY from Think whether
there really is a 3.0 (I'm not talking net rumors here) coming out????

Until I hear that LSC 3.0 is a reality, I think I'll stick with Turbo Pascal.

	Sigh.

Because it's not been mentioned recently doesn't mean that it's not
coming. If I were vain, conceited, and overbearing (two out of three ain't
bad!) I would attribute the silence to my recent resolution that i WOULD
NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NEW RELEASE until I have some kind
of official statement from my employers confirming date, price, complete
update policy, and features.

	So stay tuned...
