[comp.sys.mac.programmer] April Tech Notes, APDA messes up

LIPA@POLYA.STANFORD.EDU (William J. Lipa) (04/15/88)

Another fine job by APDA on the Tech Notes: the disk arrived in my mailbox
today, containing the index and summary, but no tech notes. Looks like
someone forgot to look inside the Tech Note folder to see if anything was
inside. After waiting for months, too!

By the way, APDA doesn't seem to know anything about the mass revision of
Tech Notes 1-183. They told me they wern't going to ship that; I had to get
it from Apple. I already paid >$80 for back orders of Tech Notes -- do I have
to spend that again to get the latest version?? That would be lame.

Unfortunately no one has packed or stuffed them on AppleLink yet...
(hint, hint :-)...downloading all 200 revised TechNotes is a little
expensive.

Also, In TN184 you don't mention whether or not any of the current (2.02) MPW
interface files have the appropriate Notification Manager traps defined.
I looked but didn't see them.. but I only looked in "obvious" places (OSIntF,
ToolIntF).. Do they? If not, can you talk to the powers that be about
uploading new ones...

			David

>Yes. The entire set of Tech. Notes has been revised.

Huh, what's to revise? Sure, some of the Tech Notes are outdated for
people with SE's or II's, but people still hacking away on Mac 128k's
might still need the old Tech Notes.

I guess I'm just wondering why Apple *bothered* to rewrite all the old
Tech Notes. I can think of a million and one better ways they could have
spent their time!
