Beware: I sent away for the JRT Pascal compiler this past March. So far, all I've received from them is a cancelled check. I sent them a letter last month asking "What's up?", but they haven't responded. Are they still in business? Is this a rip-off or what? JRT has a long history of taking many (3-6) months to ship orders. This is strictly illegal for a mail order firm, of course, but apparently nobody has squawked loud enough to shut them down yet. I suspect this is because nobody has more than $30 invested, so it's not worth the trouble to any one individ- ual. If you really want it, I suggest you invest a little more in a few phone calls, and try to get some action. Or, better, find someone who already has it and copy it (legally) from them - then cancel your order and save $30. Contact your local computer club, or RCPM system. If you're looking for a reliable Pascal compiler, I suggest you forget the JRT product entirely. It has too many bugs to be useful for production work. It's ok for playing, I guess. Don, Concerning your problems with JRT: **CALL THEM.** I, too, sent off and waited..and waited...and waited. But, having an inordinate hatred of writing letters, I called directly. They'd lost my order! However, they're quite willing to help, and did eventually send my compiler and documentation. No, it's no rip-off. They're marketing a $29.95 product, and to make any money, they have to sell thousands of copies. They are; but I get the feeling that they're not really quite up to handling the flood. Don Davis ============================================================================== I sent for my JRT pascal some months ago, and finally called and did talk to the folks. Seems that a 39.95 compiler is far to good to be true, and they have been swamped with orders. There is now a 4-6 month delay!! I think this is a bit much for ANY company, but what can you do if they already cashed your check or billed your visa!? I was informed my copy should arrive this month, and in fact, I know of some folks at work who did receive their copies after about 4 months. Needless to say, si *ANY* piece of software worth that long a wait? I leave it to you.... -Rich (jazzy@aerspace)
