I also agree that it is hard to make patches before the loading happens, BUT something does usually happen before any startupscreens can be loaded. The SCSI drivers have to be loaded before the startupscreen can be read. It's a bad way to solve things (I don't recommend it), but if there was a serious problem in how the system is loaded, it might be possible to fix it that way. I wrote a short "StartUpScreen Display" init, but it always hung when it tried to draw the picture. I guess I should do some quickdraw initializing to make it work. I thought QuickDraw was initialized when the INITs are loaded. I loaded the picture into the system heap and it did appear to be ok at the time it tried to do the DrawPicture.
