[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Symbolic Debugging On Mac

dan@Apple.COM (Dan Allen) (06/10/88)

A request was made for more info on SADE, but mail bounced back, so I
apologize to the net for posting this...

Apple currently has under development a symbolic debugging environment
that nicely complements Apple's own Macintosh Programmer's Workshop
(MPW). MPW provides a Unix/Mac hybrid environment, a fast 68020
assembler, and C and Pascal compilers. MPW is available from the Apple
Programmers and Developers Association known as APDA.

SADE stands for Symbolic Apple Debugging Environment, I believe.
The symbolic environment will be very similar to the existing MPW Shell
environment, and in MPW 3.0 there will be C, C++, and Pascal compilers that work with SADE.

In addition, other 3rd parties are producing Modula-2 and FORTRAN
compilers that also run in the MPW environment, although I am not sure
about their compatibility with SADE.

Most of these items will all be sold as separate products, each in the
$100-$200 range. Site licenses for schools are available, I think.

Prices, dates, etc. are approximate since the product is still under
development and will not be available until late this year perhaps.
