[comp.sys.mac.programmer] LightSpeed Pascal v2.0 Update

hansen@hotspur.usc.edu (Richard Hansen) (07/13/88)

Does anyone know the update procedure for LightSpeed Pascal? I saw LSP v2.0
advertised in MacUser. What is the update cost?

The ad in MacUser says (in the fine print at the bottom of the page)
to call (408) 446-9994 for upgrade information. When you call that number,
a nice gentleman says that upgrade information will be mailed to all
registered users starting the middle of August. He said he had no other
information at this time.

I had hoped to ask him about what "And soon, MacApp!" meant in the ad.
Sounds that although 2.0 supports Object Pascal, we'll have to wait until
2.1 (?) for MacApp.

The fine print also says that the suggested retail price is $125. That is
the same as LSP 1.11! I assume that there will be new manuals so I would
expect the upgrade to cost (though perhaps not as much as the LSC 3.0
upgrade).

I'm looking forward to August and I hope the wait for MacApp won't be long.

I called the number given in the August MacUser issue (the ad is near
the front of the magazine - sorry, it's at home at the moment). The
information I was given was

o upgrade will be available in September
o registered owners will receive notices in the mail
	o upgrade will cost $49
o upgrade is free if you bought LSP after July 1

No, you won't have to wait for 2.1; it's more a matter of when
the MacApp is ready than when Lightspeed Pascal is ready.

	Absolutely.
