Folks, I am using Design 2.0 (Meta Software) and MacDraw II (Claris) and need some HELP (!!). Here's my problem: 1) I'm using Design 2.0 to draw a fair size flow chart - when plotted will nicely fill a "D" size piece of paper. However, Design doesn't seem to support large plotters very well (at all!). So how can I plot the finished flowchart? Read #2! 2) To add the finishing touches and finally to print (plot) the completed flowchart I have been using "COPY" and "PASTE" (from Design to MacDraw, respectively). I tested this in various stages as I went along to ensure the feasibility of the idea. Things went perfectly until the final version of the flowchart was completed (thank you Mr. Murphy!). Now what happens? 3) I "COPY" the flowchart into the clipboard (while running Design 2.0), I then go to MacDraw II (with the intent of PASTE'ing the flowchart into MacDraw), I get the "spinning pie" icon (ie; "Wait a sec... I'm thinking about this..."), and then a dialog that reads something like "Sorry, There's Not Enough Memory!", usually followed by a barrage of "Memory Is Critical! Proceed At Your Own Risk! , etc." warning. What do I do? This process has worked GREAT up to about 75% of the flowchart - so I know the "concept" is (WAS!) good. And in case you're wondering, I << DO >> have the NEW version of the plotter configure / driver from Claris. They acknowledged the bug in the ORIGINALLY SHIPPED version and Express Mailed the NEW release to me. Thanks, Claris! 4) What have I tried to attempt to solve the problem? Shutting off Multifinder & the RAM cache. With the same or NO results (the clipboard just seems to be empty!). 5) What's my operating environment? A Mac II with 5MB, 40MB HD, and a HP 7580B ("D" size) plotter. Using the ever popular System 6.0 (Hmm?) Your help is GREATLY appreciated! I've initiated calls to Meta & Claris, but I would not be surprised if one blames the other. At this point I would welcome knowing about any plotter software that you think might work. I have "Plot-It" but that (apparently) can not "recognize" either the Meta file format nor the Claris MacDraw II format. If you can shed any light on this dilemma, please contact me immediately at the following: Pete Ferris Bell Communications Research MRE2B-224 (201) 829 - 4597 pff@thumper.bellcore.com By the way, personally I feel that Meta & Claris have fine products. I have some suggestions for Claris - if/when I ever get to talk to them. If a Claris staffer reads this, please call me if you are in a position to note a suggestion and / or help in this problem! Hopefully, Meta Software will incorporate a good plotter driver in any future version of Design x.x Thanks for reading this LONG message!
