[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Reading externally clocked data from the serial port

I hope that this isn't a dumb question, but does anyone have any code
which will allow me to read externally clocked data into a serial
port (I guess through AppleTalk).  I can't see a way to read in the
data any way but in asynchronous RS232 format.
