Re the question about dragging/growing on multiple screens: The appropriate Rect to use is the bounding box of GrayRgn, the region which comprises the complete desktop. A handle to this region can be obtained by calling GetGrayRgn (ref. Inside Mac V, Window Mgr chapter) or by getting it direct from the global GrayRgn in ancient Systems. Of course, they probably wouldn't have multiple screens. This is all spelled out in detail in the Window Manager chapter of IM V5.
