From: Chuck McManis <MCMANIS@usc-eclc> Has anyone actually seen one of the Z80000's. I have heard they are already shipping Samples but have yet to see any data. Any pointers to recent Trade Magazine articles would be appreciated. --Chuck -------

From: Steve Dyer <sdyer@bbn-unix> If you think that Zilog is shipping samples of the Z80000, I've got some swampland in Florida that you might be interested in... Zilog has a habit of announcing products which are still being designed, let alone being sampled! What about their Z800 upward-compatible Z80 chip? I've yet to see that, and it was announced over a year ago. You should approach anything that Zilog says about chip availability with a healthy skepticism. I'd love to be proved wrong here, but my instincts haven't failed me yet. /Steve Dyer sdyer@bbn-unix

The most recent Computer Systems News (or something like that--free rag) had a blurb. I think they said price was $150 in 1000+ quantities and first shipments would be in Spring '84 with quantity in Fall.

See the most recent issue of Electronic Design (July 21,1983), pages 42-43 for a small overview of the Z80,000. Nick NBarbieri.es@parc-maxc
