"A new program from the Learning Company - Rocky's Boots, written by Warren Robinett and Leslie Grimm - promises to become another software classic in the personal computing field, joining such stalwarts as Microsoft's Flight Simulator and Software Arts' Visicalc." So says Erik Sandberg-Diment in a review of the program in The New York Times, Thur. July 19. He goes on to say: "Rocky's Boots is an electronic Erector set of the mind that leaves the player surprisingly well-grounded in the basic logic concepts underpinning today's computers. . .It covers the rudiments of connecting wires, sensors, on/off switches, clocks, noise-making clackers and so on in order to produce a functional electronic device. As you guide the cursor from "room" to "room" on the video screen, you are shown how to use it to pick up a component, connect it to another one, and activate it by putting electricity into the socket. There are practice rooms where you can assemble the components into operating machines." Has anyone tried this program? What do you think of it? Where can one get more information on it? Have there been other reviews? Frank Myers Bell Labs Columbus, Ohio cbosgd!fhm
