I'm trying to use MPW from an AppleShare file-server and I've been running into some problems. I can start MPW fine, and I can use it with no problems for a while. After some random period of time, during which I've used the Pascal compiler or the Assembler, I can't use that particular tool. MPW barks at me and says something to the effect: "can't open the resource fork of that file because it's open for writing. OS error -54". Why is this happening? It's not that someone else is accessing those files at the same time as I am, because I'm the only one using the file-server. I remember that Dan Allen from Apple posted a description of how the MPW team at Apple uses MPW on an AppleShare server by making sure that all tools are only opened for reading. Is this my problem, and if so how to make MPW open tools with read-permission only? (Dan, are you listening?) Anybody have any suggestions? All help will be greatly appreciated. BTW, this problem occurs with MPW 2.0.2 as well as with MPW 3.0a. Michael Cohen cohen@jessica.stanford.edu
