In some contexts it is helpful to "see" a space character in another
way than just some blank space. I wanted to do this by simply
duplicating an existing font and editing the space character into
something visible. Strange enough all efforts didn't change anything
of the string I displayed using this changed font. So my question is:
- Is the space character handled differently from the other
characters?
- Can I do what I wanted to.

BTW, changing the nbspace worked in the wished way.
