Earlier I posted an article asking about the various implementations of Smalltalk on the Macintosh...Thanks to _ALL_ (there's a whole bunch) who responded. The basic story is that ParcPlace Systems does have _excellent_ educational pricing...different people said $100, $125 and $150 -- all substanially less than the $1000 list. Unfortunately, it requires 2Mb + RAM, more than I have. (:-() Digitalk's Smalltalk for the Mac is supposed to be fast, run in 1 Mb, with street price unknown, but it _is_ shipping...I'm going to look into it. It was also mentioned that this product maybe non-standard in some ways. I have no more info about this, so don't ask :-). Thanks. Re: Apple's -- the consesnus is that v 0.4 is quite appropriate -- still a beta product (Personal note: it's been a beta product for a few _years_ now -- I don't know if there will ever be v1.0. end note) Again, thanks to all who took the time to reply.
