[net.micro] HARD DISC FEVER

Weinstein.WSTE%hi-multics@sri-unix.UUCP (08/08/83)

I have made the major step to a HARD DISC and have been on CLOUD 9 for
the past week. This step was as noticeable as the jump from tape to
floppy was for me. I have a brand new TANDON (TM 602 S) 5 1/4 wini that
I bought for $350.00 plus shipping..tax.. If any other people are
interested... let me know directly and I will let you know if more are
available. Also don't beleive anyone when they say you can't fill up a
hard disc...I did it in one weeks time just puting public domain stuff
that I wanted to look at.

Does anyone know anything about a RODINE-100 HARD DISC...the capacitity?
How good is it in general?

Several people have contacted me and asked several questions about my
new hard disc system. The following are responses to those questions.

First of all the TM 602 S Hard Disc Drive that is priced at $350.00 plus
shipping+handling is a 5 MEGABYTE, 5 1/4" Wini Drive. I can pick them up
locally in Minneapolis for anyone interested and then pack it up and
send to you after I check out the drive on my home computer system. The
drives are new and tested at the factory but I still like to make sure
myself.

My system at home is a R2E based computer...with a S100 MCS9056 DISC
CONTROLLER. This controller is nothing special since the wini interface
is the standard ST506. There are many controllers that drive this type
of drive. The TM 602S is the same (a replacement...direct) for the
Segate 506...

All the drives that I have gotten for people have tested out perfect and
now there are others that have the HARD DISC FEVER.

Anyone wishing further information should contact me at 612-425-1813
evenings or drop a line in my mailbox.
