[comp.sys.mac.programmer] How does the Finder keep track of icons?

mystone@caen.engin.umich.edu (Dean Yu) (12/16/88)

Can anyone tell me how the Finder keeps track of the icons in it's
windows? At first I thought they were stored in the controlList of the
WindowRecord, but experiments have shown this not to be the case. (Unless
my tests were faulty.)
Basically, what I want to do is write something that will cycle through
the icons, and select them with the tab key, like cycling through the text
fields in a dialog box. Or, better yet, to hit a key, and have the first
file/folder starting with that character to select, like SFGetFile.
So, does anyone know? Thanks in advance!
