[comp.sys.mac.programmer] mail systems

jackiw@cs.swarthmore.edu (Nick Jackiw) (12/22/88)

I wrote a serverless mail program a couple months ago which sounds like it
might do what you're trying to do, if you've got a file server somewhere
on your network. It bypasses Appletalk entirely and uses standard file
manager calls to communicate with the remote volume. When we hooked up
to the campus network (some 300 nodes in 10 zones), InBox started taking
HOURS to scan the net for its server when loading. This one's much faster,
but much less sophisticated too.

Anyway, watch for it on comp.binaries.mac.
