Has anybody done very much work with MacinTalk? We are using MacinTalk version 1.3 which is Mac II compatible and have been trying to intermingle sounds (SysBeep, Sound Manager calls, etc.) with speech. The problems that occur range from not being able to generate sounds at all, to clipping speech after a sound has been generated. Therefore, my questions are: 1) Is there a clean way to integrate speech and sound togeth system for generating simple beeps? Thanks, Patrick Beard Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory

My last message got garbled. Here is a repost. Therefore, my questions are: 1) Is there a clean way to integrate speech and sound together. 2) Does anybody really understand how sound is generated on the Mac? Could anyone send (post) some code that generates sounds directly at the hardware level, i.e. bypassing the system, that could be used for generating simple beeps?
