[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Minor LSP 2.0 Bug

rubinoff@linc.cis.upenn.edu (Robert Rubinoff) (01/09/89)

Doing this seems to always crash the machine:

Create a new project, then create a new file without adding it to the project.
Select the "Source Options" command. Presto, the machine crashes.

The solution is simple: just add the file to the project first. I would guess
the problem is something to do with LSP trying to save the formatting changes
in the project, but not finding the current file anywhere in the project file.
Not a real problem, but it ought to be fixed when the next version comes out.

Other than this, I've been very happy with LSP; I've had the same problem that
other people mentioned with things not being completely erased in edit windows,
but just paging up and paging back down solves that. Lightsbug is great, I've
been able to track down my stupid mistakes easily.

If the crash occurs immediately when you choose the command, it
is definitely NOT because Pascal's trying to save the changes. I tried to
reproduce this on my machine, with no success.

Do you have a large number of fonts installed, either with or without
Suitcase or Font/DA Juggler?

Right on the money. We've got about 434K worth of fonts in the system file on
a 1 Meg SE. (We've also got about 600K of sounds; I just like to have lots of
junk available). So I presume that most people won't run into this problem.
Still, there must be a reasonable number of people who have lots of fonts; so
I may not be the only person hit by it.

	Wow.

You might try removing some of your unused fonts to temporarily
alleviate the problem. I think I know where this one is, though I don't
know if it's patchable or not.
