Some time ago I heard mention of a "Paragraph Engine" which seems to be a library supporting word processing. Could someone please provide me with details: - which word processing features does it support? Tabs, scripts, style sheets, undo, ... - is it designed to be integrated into MacApp? - is it available as source text, or object code only? - how much does it cost? -- Norbert

I haven't looked at this product for some time, for reasons of cost, but as I remember, there are two inter-related products. Paragraph Engine is a full text editing environment (files greater than 32K, etc), while WP-Engine adds full word processing capabilities to it. It is available in source, but get ready to sell your house to buy it. Object code alone was incredably expensive, but I don't remember actual figures. Paragraph Engine is a (as Bob points out) just a text-editing environment which supports all those good things like Tabs, indents, Multi Font/Size/Styles, Standard Edit commands. It is basically what Apple TE should have been!! I beleive the pricing is $500 for Object (MPW .o format) and I don't know for source (in 68K asm) WP-Engine on the other hand expands on the Paragraph Engine to include additional Word Processing features such as inclusion of graphics (and text wrap around them), Search/Replace, Import/Export in MacWrite and Word formats and other stuff...They want $2500 for the object and $25000 for source for this one. I have just signed a contract for the object of WPEngine and shouldhave more to say after I have a chance to play with it. +---------------------------------+-----------------------------------+ + Leonard Rosenthol + fact, then again you might decide+ + President, LazerWare, inc. + that it really isn't, so you + + + never know, do you?? + + leonardr@uxe.cso.uiuc.edu + + + GEnie: MACgician + MacNET: MACgician + + Delphi: MACgician + AppleLink: D0025 + +---------------------------------+-----------------------------------+
