[comp.sys.mac.programmer] MacBugs and SuperMac Video cards

mackid@caen.engin.umich.edu (Michael Neil) (01/23/89)

Does anyone know of a problem using MacBugs 6.0 with SuperMac Video cards?

I am using a Mac II with 6.0.2,6.1, and MacBugs 6.0.
MacBugs Loads and is present but when it is activated all
I get is a light gray screen. I can type in commands and
they get processed but nothing appears on the screen.
The only thing I can think of is that I have a
SuperMac ColorCard. Is there a problem with using MacBugs with
other display cards? The copy of MacBugs works fine on an
identical system but it has an apple video card.
If there is a problem does anyone have a patch or does apple
plan to fix the problem?
Any help would be appeciated.
Thanks

Yup, you've found a bug in the software. I found this bug a while ago, and
reported it both to SuperMac and to APDA. SuperMac claims the card is not to
blame, and that the bug is with MacsBug. Apple says MacsBug is fine, and that
SuperMac must be doing something wrong. In any case, the thing doesn't work if
a SuperMac card is installed. It doesn't matter if the card is the main device
either. Any ideas anyone?

I have a SuperMac video card and a color monitor. Macsbug works fine
when the Mac is set to 2-color (B&W) mode. If I know that I'm going
to use Macsbug, I switch into 2-color mode (Switch-A-Roo FKey works great).

Hope this helps.
