I've been playing around with the information returned on files by PBGetCatInfo. Has anyone looked at the FInfo or FxInfo fields (DInfo and DxInfo if you're looking at a folder))? These records contain information that is supposed to be used by the Finder to position icons in a window. I can't seem to figure out what coordinates are being used in the point and rect fields. Are these global coordinates, blocks on a grid, position in a list, or what? Are there different ways of interpreting the info in different "View" modes? What about icons that aren't currently visible in the window? Any insight on how the Finder keeps track of where files and folders are in a window would be greatly appreciated.
