A fellow employee has recently purchased a C64 and was interested in the 64MON (monitor for assembly language programming) cartridge that is described on page 215 of "Commodore 64 Programmer's Reference Guide." Does anyone out there now have this cartridge, or have any of you seen it on sale? Please reply to me by mail with any info on this topic. Thanks. -- Greg Paris decvax!brunix!rayssd!gmp allegra!rayssd!gmp linus!rayssd!gmp

Other C64 persons may also be interested (not all of us get net.micro.cbm at our sites). I don't have the Commodore monitor cartridge, but do have Hes Mon 64 by Human Engineered Software. The cartdridge lists for $40 (I found it for $32). It includes a single-step capability and utilities for hex/decimal conversion along with full-scrolling disassembler, one-line assembler, and much more. The only disadvantage is that the area in RAM overlaid by the cartridge is inaccessable. The area overlaid by the cartridge is the top 8K of BASIC's text buffer. Overall, I have found Hes Mon 64 to be a useful tool, both in looking at undocumented code and debugging my own assembly-language programs. ----- I also have a RAM-based monitor, SUPERMON64, which was published in COMPUTE! magazine and can therefore be considered in the public domain. It has a subset of the cartridge-based monitor's capabilities (no single-step, no full scrolling) but does have a disassembler, one-line assembler, and various utilities. If you would like a copy I would be willing to send it for the cost of media (tape or disk) and postage. -- Bob Alpert -- Intermetrics, Inc. 733 Concord Ave. Cambridge, MA 02138 ...harpo!inmet!alpert ...hplabs!sri-unix!cca!ima!inmet!alpert ...yale-comix!ima!inmet!alpert
