[comp.sys.mac.programmer] SE/30 Graphics -- How it appears to be organized

mdr@reed.UUCP (Mike Rutenberg) (03/02/89)

One of the articles (?Byte) has a picture of the SE/30 motherboard and
labels the display memory. It consists of two 24 pin dips.

I would strongly suspect that they each have 8 bit data busses and that
the 68030 just treats it as a region of 16 bit memory rather than the
usual 32 memory that it sees in the SIMMs.

This would account for the slower than MacII graphics in benchmark
results. A 32 bit bus add-on display cards would likely be a bit faster.
