An error was made recently in reference to SUPERMON64 and COMPUTE! magazine. Programs that are published in COMPUTE! ARE NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN. However if you purchase an issue of the magazine, you have the right to use the programs listed in it for personal use or the use of anyone who has bought that issue. It's a small point, but I suppose they could technically nail you for it. Also, in regards to machine language monitors for the 64... Another one is called XVM4.8 or XVM4.C (loading at $8000 or $C000) and this one IS in the public domain. If you are really going to get serious about assembly language programming, I recommend MAE from Eastern House Software (Winston Salem, NC) for $100. I have the cassette based version called ASM/TED on my PET and find it very useful. It can handle macros and conditional assembly. There is a users group that supports this defacto standard assembler in Illinois. They have all the source code for all public domain stuff for commodore micros. The address is: Brent Anderson, ASM/TED Users Group, 200 S. Century, Rantoul, IL 61866 (217) 893-4577. To receive info on the group and the disk exchange send a TRIPLE stamped, self addressed, legal size envelope to the above address.
