The new sound manager documentation says that developers should not write software specifically for the ASC. The only alternative is to use the Sound Manager. The problem is that the Sound Manager is incapable of doing what I want. I want to have at least two sampled sound channels and I'd really like them to be in stereo. Page 32 of the sound manager document says: * There can only be a single monophonic channel; stereo is not supported. Since the ASC obviously supports stereo sound (I've used SoundEdit), I guess I could write my own sound routines that would simply add two sampled waveforms and then manipulate the ASC to produce stereo. The problem is that I don't have the necessary documentation to do this. I read the APDA version of the Macintosh Family Hardware Reference and I don't remember it containing anything about the sound chip. If someone has the necessary information, Please tell me about it. I'd like to write something that really uses the chip. I could make it public domain so that others could use and improve it. I know (at least in theory) how to write similar mono routines for a MacPlus. It should be easier for a Mac II. _._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._ | Juri Munkki jmunkki@hut.fi jmunkki@fingate.bitnet I Want Ne | | Helsinki University of Technology Computing Centre My Own XT | ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^
