Just a suggestion for the folks at Apple involved in designing new System/Finders: how about making it so that the actual title (i.e. the name itself) of a window in the Finder is also a pop-up menu which would list the folders above that window in the hierarchy (sort of like the pop-up menu in the SFGetFile dialog)? It might make it easier to traverse back up the directory tree, particularly since the "click on the title bar and go up one level" feature doesn't seem to have been implemented, unless you want to hack the LAYO. Or if making it the title itself were counter-intuitive, then perhaps putting an actual pop-up menu box somewhere in the title bar. I'm sure there's some more elegant and/or intuitive way to implement this, but I think some attention should be payed to possible new ways of moving around the HFS tree. (And no, I personally don't think a CLI is one of them). Robert ------ ra_robert@gsbacd.uchicago.edu ------ generic disclaimer: all my opinions are mine
