I have recently been working with a new replacement ROM for the Zenith H19 terminal called the Ultra-ROM. The ULTRA is similar in several aspects to the Super-19 ROM that was discussed here several months ago, but in my opinion has several of the Super-19's best features, eliminaltes the minor annoyances that ROM had, and has several real improvements: o Clock - The Ultra has a clock display that sits onn the 25th line and can serve as an elapsed time meter or can be set with the time by a simple escape sequence. In addition, the time can be transmitted to the computer on command. Sorry, no battery backup. o Second page display - Addition of a 6116 or equivalent RAM chip and a couple of jumpers allows an alternate display page. There are escape sequences to swap pages 1 and 2 as well as to copy 1 to 2 or 2 to 1. o Programmable function keys - Can be loaded with up to 8 characters each; default function keys are unchanged; simple escape sequence will allow redefinition to typical CP/M or HDOS commands. o Reliable operation at baud rates to 38400. o Transparent mode - Control characters displayed as hex code in <>, high order bit toggles inverse video. I could continue, but I think you get the idea. I would consider this ROM particularly directed toward the micro user. Note theree is no attempt at VT-100 compatibility. The ROM retails for $49.95 (actually two chips) and is available from Software Wizardry, 122 Yankeee Drive, St Charles, Mo. 63301. Thee packaging is beautiful, unusual for a product in this price range. I will try to answer specific questions anyone may have on the Ultra and a comparisonn with the Super-19 ROM. -Charlie
