[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Stdin/stdout on Mac

I have a UNIX application that I'm trying to compile under MPW.
It compiles okay but every stdout/stdin file operation causes
a an alert box pop up saying ``Writing[reading] to console
not supported!''.  

My question is: what is the least painful way to create a window
for stdin/stdout?

Please send replies by e-mail, I don't normally read this notesfile.
(Maybe thats my problem!)
