Can someone help me?!?!?!? I have a Mac IIx, Apple LaserWriter II NT, and no AppleTalk network. I NEED to be able to dump printouts to either the printer serial port on the Mac or to a file so I can send them to out SUN 3/60 to print on the LW. The drivers I have don't want to work with the CMD-K and CMD-F that everyone tells me about. Can someone send me BinHex'd versions of their drivers that REALLY do work on a MAC IIx and instructions on how they print to a file or printer port. The printer port would be best, but a file will do. Thanks, Lance Ellinghouse -- Lance Ellinghouse Mark V Systems, Ltd. UUCP: ...!hermix!lance ARPA: ucla-an!hermix!lance@ee.UCLA.EDU

If you are having trouble getting CMD-F to work on your MacIIx, try using a slower setting for the double-click speed of the mouse. The window for the CMD-F is very small and it gets smaller on faster machines. At least for PageMaker, which may be a unique case, we found that the size of the window was affected by the double-click speed setting. Also remember that you have to hit CMD-F VERY quickly after starting the print and hold it down until you get a dialog box saying that a PostScript file is being created.

A technique that seemed to work for me (but is a bit awkward) is to click and hold the mouse button in the OK button of the print dialog. While holding the button, press and hold Cmd-F. Then release the mouse button. Release Cmd-F, when you see the appropriate message. Also, for PageMaker, you can avoid all this if you use the Aldus driver. In their print dialog, hold down the option key while clicking Print, and you will get a dialog with extra options. This is documented in the manual. Larry Rosenstein, Apple Computer, Inc.
