From: Lauren Weinstein <vortex!lauren@lbl-csam> Greetings. I'm looking for some recommendations regarding a good single-chip micro for a small dedicated controller application. The functionality I require includes: 1) On-chip RAM (64 bytes would even be enough). 2) On-chip EPROM (1K bytes might suffice, 4K would be better). 3) At least 2, and more ideally 3 I/O ports (8 bit) [TTL compat.] 4) On-chip clock (if a crystal is required, it should be a common one like a colorburst crystal). 5) Reasonable instruction set. Something that was 8080 compatible would be ideal, but I suppose that's too much to hope for. If nothing else, it would be nice if there was an assembler for the beastie around somewhere that I could use. Needless to say, the chip chosen should be easy to obtain and shouldn't require a minimum purchase of 10K units! Anybody have some suggestions? Thanks much. --Lauren--
