( My apologies to those who have seen a previous article on this subject in another group, but I received no reply to that posting. If you know the answer to this, and can't stand the thought of a smoke-belching mac, please let me know soon...) I recently purchased 2 SIMM strips from a private party. One of them is marked 100ns and the other is 120ns. Naturally, I then read the directions (TN176), and discovered much to my surprise that Apple specifies that both SIMMS is a row have to be the "same speed." I had assumed that fast enough would be fast enough, and having designed hardware myself in the dark ages ( I even designed a board using dynamic rams,) I can't figure out why there would be such a restriction. If anyone can explain why this would be, within the next couple of days, I could be convinced to try to swap one of my SIMMS. Otherwise, I'll just find out empirically. (Stand back!)
