I also read the CU article and I thought that they were, indeed way out of their depth. For example, when they mentioned the Apple they totally ignored it's greatest advantage, which is HARDWARE expandability. As far as Atari BASIC is concerned, I have used it for 3 years and I would totally disagree that it "stinks". It is different from microsoft basic which seems to be becoming the standard for microcomputers, but both forms of BASIC have thier strengths and weaknesses. Besides, Atari owners have a choice, Because an extremley powerful form of micrsoft BASIC (Microsoft BASIC II) is also available on cartridge. As a side note I would like to point out that the author of Atari BASIC claims that it is closer to the ANSI standard than microsoft BASIC, but never having read the ANSI standard I wouldn't be able to verify that. Also the Manual was never meant to be a tutor on BASIC, it was just supposed to be a reference. Todd Bradstrum
